Lake Hartwell borders Georgia and South Carolina with 56,000 acres of water and 962 miles of shoreline and is very accessible from I-85. It is one of the Southeast’s largest and most popular recreational lakes. The lake is a focal point for the Clemson area. Clemson University is also located on the shores of Lake Hartwell. Lake Hartwell is located less than 2 hours away from Charlotte and Atlanta and 1.5 hours from Columbia and Asheville.
There are five commercial marina’s on the lake. All of these marina’s have launching ramps and some have boat rental’s available. In addition, there are dozens’s of launching ramps across the shoreline. The Corps also maintains over 20 recreational areas with varying degrees of services including launching ramps, picnic facilities, swimming beaches and playgrounds. The also maintain seven campgrounds in the area.
Outdoor water activities abound on Lake Hartwell with its quiet coves and wide open waters that beckon sailors, skiers, and fishermen alike. Fishing is excellent in these waters and you will be rewarded with a great experience.
